Serra Cafema

Serra Cafema : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information

Otherworldly desert encounter at an isolated Namibian campsite

Volcanic rock formations rise over the vast, rolling dunes of the Namib Desert.  The Kunene River disrupts this unending plain, accompanied by verdant riverine woods that punctuate the arid environment.  Amidst this strange landscape, on the frontier of Angola, lies the secluded and tranquil Serra Cafema, one of Namibia’s most isolated camps.

The camp’s pinnacle experience is the quad bike excursions across the ascending dunes in pursuit of gemsbok and the concealed Rüppell’s korhaan.  A visit to the adjacent Himba community provides insight into the existence of these semi-nomadic individuals as they endure the austere desert environment.  Partake in a tranquil boat excursion to the Angolan bank of the river for a sunset drink.

The camp features eight opulent tents, fashioned from canvas and thatch, elevated on wooden decks to provide a roomy and temperate atmosphere.  Both the Standard Tents and the Family Tent are equipped with expansive glass sliding doors that provide access to the desert scenery.  The submerged lounge, bar, eating spaces, and plunge pool in the central section all offer vistas of the Kunene River.
