Namiri Plains : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
Safari refuge in the residence of the large felines
Best recognized for broadcasting what has been called “the greatest animal spectacle on earth,” the center Serengeti’s wide, isolated grasslands. Guests at the private Namiri Plains camp are put directly into the heart of it all and will find themselves sleeping in a section of the Serengeti known as the home of the big predators.
When some of the greatest concentrations of hyena on the continent are known to migrate into the region, this great expanse of African wilderness comes alive in the rainy season. Between October and May, herds of wildebeest darken the golden terrain, intermingled with pockets of zebra and other ungulates. Although the Serengeti is really a year-round safari location, the great migration is certainly a major lure.
Resting in the umbrella-like shade of tall acacia trees, the camp’s eight tents merge perfectly into their environment. Every tent has clear views of the surrounding savannah, river, and reed beds. Most of the day is spent on daily game drives and walking safaris; breakfast picnics and sundowners turn long events from atop the Soit Le Motonyi overlook.
