Sustainable living adjacent to Etosha
Andersson’s at Ongava is named for the Swedish explorer Charles Andersson, who first discovered the glistening green and white Etosha Pan. Located in the Ongava Private Game Reserve, the family-oriented camp overlooks a waterhole visited by various animals, including large rhinoceroses and elephants, as well as the small Damara dik-dik.
Ongava, adjacent to Etosha National Park—Namibia’s foremost wildlife destination—offers guests a plenty of free-roaming game options. Traverse the landscape in your safari vehicle, with binoculars at the ready to observe plains wildlife, predators, and an abundance of avian species. Guided bushwalks will bring you nearer to the distinctive vegetation and drought-resistant animals.
The previous farmstead’s 20 tents extend into the remote mopane woodlands. The constructions of canvas, wood, and stone cladding are built on raised wooden platforms and include double doors that open into small verandas. Solar energy heats the water for the partly open-air en-suite baths, merging comfort with sustainable living. The antiquated farmhouse constitutes the primary space and encompasses the dining room, lounge, bar, and swimming pool.
