Blue Gum Country Estate is a family-operated guest house and functioning farm established in 1839, located around two hours’ drive from Cape Town.  The guest house, named after the majestic 140-year-old Blue Gum on the front lawn, offers the warmth and welcome of a private residence.

The charming land is conducive to scenic walks as various recorded bird species, numbering 100, fly about.  The facility includes a mountain trail, tennis court, swimming pool, library featuring board games and DVDs, and a children’s play area, catering to many interests.  A 10-minute drive will take you to historic Stanford, while Hermanus is also conveniently nearby.  The region is abundant with restaurants, artists’ studios, and many activities.

The primary residence has five Manor House Suites and two opulent Honeymoon Suites, with double open bathtubs, fireplaces, dual showers, and either a private garden or verandah.  The additional accommodation comprises five family-oriented Mountain View Cottages, each accommodating four guests, and two private Blue Gum Cottages.  BARKE restaurant provides a family-oriented environment with exceptional cuisine throughout the day, whereas The Blue Gum Restaurant specializes in more intimate dining experiences.
