At the precipice of Ngorongoro

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is positioned within an ancient acacia forest at the periphery of the Ngorongoro Crater, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The camp offers prompt and convenient access to the crater bottom, a place famous for its dense population of wildlife and remarkable Big 5 observations.

The crater floor is a mere 10 to 15-minute drive from the gate, resulting in Lemala guests typically arriving approximately one hour prior to other tourists in the morning.  This is particularly advantageous for photographers requiring the golden dawn light.  Experience several game drives within the crater, as well as guided excursions through the acacia woodland or along the crater’s perimeter.  In addition to the Big Five, observe hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, bat-eared foxes, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles, as well as several avian species.

Nine en-suite tents are available, each featuring two queen-size beds, winter duvets, hot water bottles, and gas heaters.  The mess tent features a lounge, dining room, and bar, furnished with spacious, comfy sofas and bookshelves.  Dusk invites conversations around the campfire, succeeded by a substantial dinner.
