!Xaus Lodge
Situated atop a dune in a private reserve, ! Xaus Lodge provides a view of the uniquely heart-shaped saltpan for which it is named. “Xaus” translates to “heart” in the Nama language, reflecting both the landscape and the fervor with which the two bushmen communities operate the eco-friendly lodge.
Traverse the saltpan, where white crystals fracture under the vehicle’s tires, or explore the Kalahari’s nocturnal fauna on a post-dinner excursion. A prompt commencement with the Bushman trackers and guides will navigate you into the crimson dunes, where they will highlight the desert’s intriguing vegetation and animals. This is succeeded by a stroll to the cultural hamlet to observe the craftsmanship of the Bushmen artisans. An unobstructed sky devoid of light pollution facilitates exceptional stargazing.
The resort provides four-star lodging in 12 distinct chalets, each including a private deck with views of the saltpan and the freshwater waterhole. The primary section is a cozy lounge with a crackling fireplace and a selection of literature. Repasts are provided in the boma surrounding a substantial fire pit.
